Hello DAB+!

Performance on the 5th of November 2025

By the end of 2026, FM radio stations in Switzerland are expected to be switched off permanently. Radio will become clean. Hello DAB+ is a sonic plea for static, whistling, and crackling on the radio. Blablabor sets up a workshop in the Shedhalle to generate and record FM static for their new project Guerilla Radio. Small FM transmitters and portable radios are used as instruments. For the duration of Loving Shedhalle – Abundance, an FM antenna occupies the exhibition space, reminding visitors of the transience of mediated spaces and their inherent qualities.

The artist collective Blablabor works with the medial conditions of radio and with language as both a carrier of meaning and sound, as well as a transmitter of history and culture. Blablabor’s subject is always exactly what it is doing: writing, speaking, singing, telling, broadcasting, listening. In their radio performances, Blablabor operates up to 100 radios simultaneously. Currently, the collective is exploring the artistic implications of the transition from FM to DAB+.
