SCHULE DER LIEBENDEN (live consultation hour)

with Gianni Blumer, Caitlin Friedly, Yanna Rüger and Fabienne Villiger from Theater HORA

13.09.25, 2-4 pm

Language: German (we offer whisper translation in English)

SCHULE DER LIEBENDEN (SCHOOL OF LOVERS) opened its doors for the first time in 2023 at the Shedhalle: Visitors could watch a performance and a film and learn a lot of new things about intimacy, touch, and sexuality.

Now SCHULE DER LIEBENDEN is back! Their educational film 2.0 will be shown throughout the weekend from September 11 to 14.

At SCHULE DER LIEBENDEN, we can learn the things that no one has taught us in real life. How to feel and communicate yes and no in your body; how to flirt, maintain your boundaries, touch mindfully, love yourself, and much more.

Do you still have questions after the film? That’s good. Because on Saturday, the teachers of SCHULE DER LIEBENDEN will be there in person and you can talk to them directly in a live consultation hour. Afterwards, there will be coffee and cake in the teachers’ room.

If you have accessibility needs in order to participate in the consultation hour, please write to us at mail@shedhalle.ch or call +41 44 481 59 50.

Context:

This consultation hour and the short film SCHULE DER LIEBENDEN are part of a humorous, sensitive, empowering, and genre-busting art experience on the theme of love and intimacy for people with and without disabilities.

Video artist and somatic sex coach melanie bonajo, in collaboration with Daniel Cremer and Yanna Rüger, worked with the Theater HORA ensemble to create an educational film 2.0 that can be viewed alone or as part of a full-length immersive performance in a room installation by Carolin Gieszner.

Co-production by Theater HORA with Fabriktheater Rote Fabrik and Shedhalle Zurich.

Theater HORA from Zurich is one of Switzerland’s best-known independent theater, dance, and performance groups. It regularly collaborates with important artists and collectives from Switzerland and abroad and performs at local, regional, and international venues in the theater scene. At the same time, Theater HORA has also been a (cultural) workshop for people with learning difficulties since 2003. As such, it is part of the Züriwerk Foundation, which is committed to helping people with predominantly cognitive impairments. In addition to the two theater departments “HORA-Labor” and “HORA-Produktion,” there has been another independent artistic project since 2005: the HORA’BAND. It operates independently of the ensemble and performs at concert venues and music festivals. Theater HORA has received several important theater prizes and awards for its work.
